Physiotherapy services

Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can also help to reduce your risk of injury or illness in the future. It takes a holistic approach that involves the patient directly in their own care.

NHS Physiotherapy is accessible via a self referral. If you are unsure whether a self-referral is appropriate for you or have difficulty completing the self-referral (e.g. due to a disability or frailty) please request an appointment with a GP for advice.

There are two NHS Physiotherapy services available in Leicester. Both services provide an initial triage by experienced physiotherapy staff and patients self refer to only one service provider.

1) Community Based Physiotherapy Service (provided by LPT): https://www.leicspart.nhs.uk/services/referrals/?v=12911
Self refer by calling: 0300 300 0046

2) UHL Based Physiotherapy Service:

The Physiotherapy Service based at UHL Hospital is a paper based referral system. Click here to download the form.
Your first appointment will be a telephone call from a physiotherapist to discuss your needs. You will receive a phone call
within 2 working days of receipt of referral (this will be from a private / unknown number) from a physiotherapist.
